Path Description

In this path, students will explore over four decades of artwork by Jenny Holzer including works completed in 2024 and 2025. Holzer’s temporary exhibition in the Pavilions will be the subject of close-looking exercises as students consider her text-based works and discuss how she uses words and phrases as tools for personal and political examination. Students will also participate in a writing activity to draft and design their own Truisms.

Please note the works in the exhibition and path highlight the realities of war and military operations in Iraq and Afghanistan and include references to the Bush and Trump Administrations and the January 6 Capitol Attack.

Educators will find this path option to be most appropriate for students who are familiar with 20th century art history and are curious to explore new art media. This is also an option for history or government classes.
