School Visits
Expand your classroom learning at Glenstone.
If our program encourages more students to take up a pencil, to write, to draw, to dream, that alone is what we're trying to do here.
Before You Visit
All onsite visits can host up to 40 students and require 4 school chaperones. Chaperones are key to a successful visit!
Share our School Visit at Glenstone video (01:07) with your students to give a preview of their visit. For a longer introduction with additional commentary from our founders, our guides, and artists in our collection, share our What is Glenstone? video (10:00).

Guided Engagements
Glenstone offers five guided paths to choose from for your visit. All paths are designed to meet Maryland Visual Art State Standards or Next Generation Science Standards to enable stronger connections to the current state-wide curriculum.
Guided programs are led by knowledgeable guides that use artful thinking routines, modeled on strategies developed by Project Zero at Harvard Graduate School of Education, to encourage student engagement.
During the visits, students will be able to work on the following skills.
Students will build critical thinking and interpretation skills. Your class will learn how to talk about art, and how to use language that communicates ideas and visual experiences.
Students will share their own ideas about art, architecture, and nature. At Glenstone, we want to help students feel more independent by encouraging them to express their own important opinions.
Students will discover ways to apply mindfulness techniques in their own lives. Close-looking techniques, as a kind of mindfulness activity, can offer students a way to slow down and get to know the world around them at their own pace.
Students will encounter new ways of thinking about sustainability. Sustainability is a core value at Glenstone. Students will discover how organizations and individuals can make decisions that are good for the environment.
Glenstone’s guided visit program is fully booked through June 2025. For now, you can join the waitlist for a guided onsite visit. If a date becomes available, Glenstone will email all educators on the waitlist at once about the availability, with at least 2 weeks’ notice.
Scheduling guided onsite visits for the 2025-26 school year will begin on Monday, August 25, at 10:00 am.
