POTOMAC, MD, March 20, 2025 — Glenstone Museum today inaugurated an expansive spring 2025 season to mark the reopening of the Pavilions, with new exhibitions by Alex Da Corte, Jenny Holzer, Simone Leigh, Charles Ray, and Jaune Quick-to-See Smith.

Earlier this month Glenstone also launched a redesigned website that, for the first time, offers the ability to browse its collection of postwar and contemporary art. Designed by Area 17, the website includes extensive information about the flora and fauna living on Glenstone’s grounds and information about the museum’s programs and community engagement efforts.

“We are excited to reopen and welcome visitors back to explore new exhibitions as well as long-term installations,” says Emily Wei Rales, director and co-founder of Glenstone. “Unveiling these presentations and sharing the entire collection online for the first time makes Glenstone’s collection more accessible than ever before.”

New presentations open today include an exhibition of works by Jenny Holzer that features her signature LED works alongside silkscreened paintings derived from declassified government documents. Alex Da Corte’s presentation pairs Rubber Pencil Devil (Hell House) (2022), a full-size neon house with windows aflame, with The Decorated Shed (2019), a contemporary reimagining of the miniature neighborhood featured prominently in the television program Mister Rogers Neighborhood.

Additional offerings include a selection of recent bronze sculptures by Simone Leigh; a suite of paintings by Jaune Quick-to-See Smith; and the sixth in a rotating series of installations by Charles Ray.

Key features of Glenstone’s new website include:

  • Online access to nearly two thousand digitized artworks from Glenstone’s collection, offering opportunity to research and explore its depth and breadth.

  • An interactive digital map guiding visitors to Glenstone’s outdoor sculptures and other destinations across its 300-acre campus. Visitors can now route between points of interest and see their location in real-time, along with estimated walking times.

  • A new section on nature and sustainability, featuring interactive flora and fauna lists highlighting the biodiversity of the native plants found at Glenstone. Visitors can filter entries by location, bloom season, and species to discover more about the museum’s organically-maintained landscape – and its many animal residents.

  • Expanded resources for educators, including a range of materials to use in the classroom and prepare students for their visit to Glenstone.

Summer Evenings at Glenstone

Starting May 24, Glenstone's popular Summer Evenings series returns with extended hours until 8 p.m. every Saturday through August. Special programming will occur throughout the summer, including curatorial talks about current exhibitions and guided Outdoor Sculpture Walks on Saturdays, in addition to year-round guided Nature Walks and Water Court talks highlighting Glenstone’s native plants and wildlife. Every other Saturday, guests will enjoy live music at the Patio, with tickets required for these performances.
