Illuminating his command of material and the diverse array of media used by Charles Ray (b. 1953), this group of works was selected and installed by the artist as the first in a series of long-term, rotating exhibitions which showcase the depth of works by Ray in Glenstone’s collection. Included in this first installation were the sculptures Table, 1990; Fall ’91, 1992; The New Beetle, 2006; and Baled truck, 2014. Reflecting on the presentation of his works in Room 8 of the Pavilions, Ray wrote, “My exhibition is an open-ended template, and the history of exhibitions in this wonderful building starts now.”
