Noah Davis

b. Seattle, WA, 1983
d. Ojai, CA, 2015

Noah Davis was a visionary. Primarily a painter, best known for melancholic paintings of Black figures, often in isolation, Davis was sensitive to the context in which he made and exhibited his art. Beyond the canvas, he cofounded the Underground Museum with his wife and fellow artist, Karon Davis. An artist-run exhibition space, the Underground Museum became an important arts and cultural center in the Arlington Heights neighborhood of Los Angeles. Davis believed that art was an essential part of a vibrant, just, and healthy society. For him, increasing access to art would inspire, educate, and transform lives. His legacy does just that.
